Marco Guadarrama

Marco Guadarrama (he/his) is a designer, researcher, and practitioner working at the intersection of design research, business strategy, and product development. He currently works at IKEA Data and Technology, where he conducts generative and evaluative research for smart home products and digital solutions.

Driven by a mission to create a better everyday life, Marco collaborates with people and organizations to integrate inclusive design practices into the creation of products, services, and systems, exploring their opportunities and implications for IKEA and beyond. Marco is also pursuing a PhD at RMIT University, where his research focuses on the intricate relationships between people, homes, and technology through the lens of inclusive and participatory design.

Marco and Jenny L Beijar from Our Normal join the Structuring Structures session to share their participatory design research at IKEA, understanding how children perceive safety in smart homes, and supporting the integration of universal and inclusive design principles into companies’ user research, and wondering “where do we start?”
