Code of conduct and Terms and conditions
Code of conduct – A community agreement
The Conference is a warm space that we create and hold together. Each participant deserves to feel safe and welcome, and to be treated respectfully at our event, regardless of ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, appearance or religious belief.
This agreement clarifies expectations of each of us—whether we organize, speak, volunteer, and/or participate—so that every member of our community feels like they belong at The Conference.
Here’s what each of us agrees to do when we meet in Malmö in August:
“Yes, and…” We will listen deeply, and build on each other’s stories.
Stay curious & respectful. We will collide, debate, stay civil, stay engaged, and come from a place of curiosity and respect.
Call in vs. call out. We will focus on reflection rather than reaction, and speak out without tearing down. We call in when conversations get tough to make meaning together, rather than make public call-outs.
Willing > winning. We’ll trust that most people want to be part of a compassionate space for listening, understanding, offering new information, and correcting assumptions.
Harassment or bullying in any form or shape have no place in our community. If something doesn’t feel right, please let Media Evolution staff or volunteers know. You can tell us at the information desk, DM us on our socials, and/or email us at [email protected]. Any participant behaving in violation of this agreement will be asked to stop their actions straight away. If a fair warning doesn’t work, it may lead to expulsion from the event, no refund and no regrets.
Covid-19. We’re aware that the coronavirus is still very much in our midst. Please take the personal health precautions you need to feel safe and healthy at our event: wash your hands frequently, get fresh air between sessions, use hand sanitiser, and mask up if you need. We trust and believe that any participant with even mild symptoms of illness will opt-out of participating. None of the events at The Conference require a mask.
Lastly, please remember to take care of yourself, take care of the folks around you, and celebrate the magic that happens when we gather together in good faith, with good intention, in person.
